7143 Jedi Starfighter is a Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones set released in 2002. It contains 138 pieces.

Description[edit | edit source]

The starfighter consists of primarily white and dark red pieces. The ship features black blaster cannon on each side, and also some flaps towards the rear of the fighter. Three legs are used for landing gear- two on each side at the rear, and one positioned at the front in the centre of the craft. The starfighter features a variety of printed parts, including four around the cockpit area, a printed Republic logo on the right-hand side, and a part for the back "fin". The cockpit is accessible simply by removing the cockpit piece. In Obi-Wan Kenobi minifigure as a Jedi Knight with a headset comlink printed on his head is included in this set, and he has two accessories: a blue-bladed lightsaber as well as a pair of macrobinoculars. R4-P17 is also included as a head piece only.

In the Video Games[edit | edit source]

A rendering of this ship appeared in the LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game and LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga video games. The ship was only seen in cutscenes, and also as an object that players are able to jump on in the Episode II level, "Discovery on Kamino".

Background[edit | edit source]

The Delta-7 Jedi Aethersprite-class light interceptor, commonly known as a Jedi Starfighter, was commissioned by the Jedi right before the outbreak of the Clone Wars. While the starfighter was highly advanced and carried sophisticated equipment, it was expensive to produce. This ship was armed with two twin laser cannons a one proton torpedo launcher, and was the main starfighter used by the Jedi during the beginning of the Clone Wars. Obi-Wan Kenobi piloted one of these ships, along with his droid R4-P17, from Coruscant to Kamino after being sent to meet with the Kaminoan cloners by Grand Master Yoda. After a battle with Jango Fett, Kenobi used this ship to track the bounty hunter to the planet Geonosis. Kenobi was later captured on Geonosis by Droidekas as he was sending a message to the Jedi Council from the starfighter.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • The curved cockpit canopy made its first appearance in this set.
  • This set includes a pair of binoculars, possibly a reference to cut content in Episode II where Obi-Wan makes use of macrobinoculars on Geonosis.
