Review:41522 Scorpi/ZootyCutie

From Brickipedia, the LEGO Wiki

Hello, I am ZootyCutie, bureaucrat of the Mixels Wiki. This is my first review for a LEGO set (doing this as a test review for the future Orbitronz series), and today, I am reviewing Mixels set 41522 Scorpi. He was released as part of the September 2014 wave, though some Target stores had their Mixel stocks released a few weeks earlier than even the LEGO stores, which is where I picked him up, albeit with some difficulty, as many stores were sold out of him. I managed to luck out after many attempts, purchasing the last one in stock.

Information[edit | edit source]

The Bag and Contents[edit | edit source]

Scorpi, like the rest of the Spikels, is contained in a silver polybag (despite the fact their tribe is primarily tan-colored). Inside is a smaller clear bag containing the pieces and a folding instruction booklet. Like the rest of the Mixel instructions, it contains a checklist of the previous series (it should be noted that the first wave instruction books spoiled the second and third wave ones in the same matter). An advertisement for the Spikels Max can be seen in the booklet as well, showing off how the website contains the instructions for it. Finally, the in-game code for Scorpi’s ability in Calling All Mixels is available in the back, his code being “ST1NGR8”, or “stinger”.

The Build[edit | edit source]

Scorpi side.jpgScorpi front.jpgScorpi back.jpg

Scorpi’s build was an exciting one. Thanks to having one of the highest amounts of pieces in his set, he was a bit more time-consuming than the other Mixels. A note of interest is the use of the 2x2 eye tiles for both of his eyes, as this had originally been used just for the Cyclops characters. His head is placed on a connector pin, letting it tilt like he is curiously looking around.

The biggest part to note is his color palette. He heavily uses tan and dark tan pieces, with a few transparent brown cheese slopes and silver pieces. He has a liberal use of spiked pieces and noticeable use of sliver tooth shaft pieces. A small splash of red is used in his mouth via a 1x2 brick, leaving for a subtle, yet striking detail.

Movement-wise, Scorpi is a very poseable Mixel. Combined with his previously-mentioned axis head, he also has a double-jointed tail on a ball joint, which can curl up all the way to the top of his head. Balance-wise, he is nearly always forced to stay on all of his legs, made up of points connected to eight joints. As they are so small, balance is key when it comes to attempting to pose him.

Scorpi is an amazing Mixels set, and I can easily see why he was so hard to come by. With rarer colors combined with a big piece-to-price ratio that ends with a very expressive and adorable Mixel. His lack of balance is his biggest downfall, however. In general, Series 3 has been a very strong Mixels set for LEGO, and I hope that their further creations for this series continue to be stronger and better.

I hope you enjoyed my first-ever LEGO review! Please leave any questions or comments below and tell me what you think!

Also it's not relevant in a review for you to introduce yourself and advertise your site :/

It's not a link though - I assume its there so you know that she knows that she has an interest and a knowledge of Mixels. It says "this is a Mixels review by someone who knows a lot about Mixels", compared to a review by someone who has never had a set before - it also means things like the score come from a different place - you don't see how its a 5 star set, but that may be because you aren't as up-to-date with the other Mixels. (Or just because, you know, you are different people.)

It was only one sentence that introduced herself and it wasn't even advertising. If she hadn't put anything there, no one would know who wrote the review. It's not a 5-page long advertisement about the Mixels Wiki. It's a one-sentence long introduction and an entire page-long REVIEW, which is what this is supposed to be.

Nice review, but most of his parts are common so I don't see how it's a 5 star set

Compared to the other Mixel sets I own, I found this one to be the highest quality, so I felt it deserved a good rating.
