4733 The Dueling Club is a Harry Potter set released in 2002. It depicts the scene from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets where Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy compete with each other in the Dueling Club.
The set contains the dueling stage and an audience area, and the minifigures included are Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, Professor Snape, and Professor Lockhart.
Description[edit | edit source]
The Dueling Area[edit | edit source]
The Technic mechanism in the dueling platform allows players to flip the minifigures as though they have been hit by a Disarming Charm. Two Hogwarts banners showing all four houses are also included. There is a barrel for storing wands, a brown owl, and a snake attached to the back of the rotating chair that Snape sits in. This set was designed to fit on top of 4705 Snape's Classroom and below the bathroom part in 4730 The Chamber of Secrets.
Minifigures[edit | edit source]
The set contains Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, Professor Lockhart and Professor Snape minifigures, as well as the Snake that Malfoy conjures up. Lockhart in his emerald robes is exclusive to this set. Randomly, LEGO made Professor Snape's head glow-in-the-dark.
Background[edit | edit source]
The dueling club was started by Professor Lockhart when the Chamber of Secrets was opened in Harry Potter's second year. He was given permission to teach students how to duel in an attempt to help them learn to protect themselves. Lockhart was joined by Professor Snape, who worked as his assistant. However, Lockhart merely made a fool out of himself as Snape's Disarming Charm sent him flying across the stage. Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy were then called to demonstrate diasarming jinxes. The two, who are rivals, attacked each other, ending with Draco conjuring up a snake. The snake moved towards a student in the crowd, Justin Finch-Fletchley. Harry called the snake off with what sounded like a hiss, worrying many students that he was the heir of Slytherin, who opened the Chamber of Secrets. This "hiss" is really a language in the Harry Potter world called Parseltongue. After the disastrous first lesson, the dueling club was cancelled.
