Background[edit | edit source]
Cousin Elkwood tells his Aunt Gertrude that the Headless Horsemen is out to get her diamond necklace (a trophy in the set). She gives it to him trusting he will keep it safe and he drives off. He pretends he crashes the car and changes into his Headless Horsemen costume and rides off on his horse. The gang (Daphne Blake, Fred Jones, Scooby-Doo, Shaggy Rogers, Velma Dinkley and their temporarily member Scooby-Dum) investigate the car crash. Scooby-Dum discovers the picture for cousin Elkwood's pasport which then leads Fred and Velma to believe he was not murdered. When Shaggy finds a newspaper in the car revealing that Elkwood's shoe company is going out of business they are certain he's behind the case. The gang soon discover his plane in a barn. Scooby-Doo and Shaggy get stuck in the plane and try not to be caught by the Headless Horseman who's flying it. The plane breaks into pieces and Scooby-Dum rescues his cousin, Shaggy and the Headless Horsemen in a net. The sherif then comes and arrests Elkwood.
