Background[edit | edit source]
After hitting several Hydra strongholds in search of the staff that Loki used during the Battle of New York, the Avengers eventually found Baron Von Strucker's hideout. Iron Man infiltrated the fortress in search of the staff while the other five Avengers took care of the fortress' defenses. However, during the battle, Peitro and Wanda Maximoff, twin siblings that Strucker had enhanced through his experiments and who worked for him, decided to attack the Avengers against Strucker's orders. The twins cause some damage to the Avengers, with Pietro's actions leading to Hawkeye being injured and also knocking down Captain America, and Wanda distracting Stark by making him see visions of the other Avengers dead. Despite this, the Avengers managed to overcome these obstacles, with Hawkeye being successfully evacuated, the base being neutralised, and the sceptre being taken back to Avengers Headquarters for analysis.
