79001 Escape from Mirkwood Spiders is a set in the theme The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey released in November 2012. It includes two Mirkwood Spiders, Fili, Kili, Legolas Greenleaf, Tauriel, two black spiders and a white glow-in-the-dark spider.
Description[edit | edit source]
The set includes four minifigures; Fili, Kili, Legolas, and Tauriel. It also includes two large spiders and three small spiders, two black and one glow-in-the-dark white. The main part of the set is two trees, one larger than the other. The larger tree can hold up Kili and Fili in their nets. The set includes a variety of weapons; two short bows for the dwarves, a long bow for Legolas, two short swords, and two daggers for Tauriel.

- The daggers that Tauriel holds are the same mould as the Dagger of Time, from the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time theme.
- All of the minifigures in this set are exclusive, besides Legolas and the variant of Tauriel.
- Despite the set being a subtheme for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the Escape from Mirkwood Spiders scene was moved to the second Hobbit film The Desolation of Smaug due to the last minute change of making The Hobbit into a trilogy instead of two parts.
