Background[edit | edit source]
After Tony Stark met Peter Parker and took an immediate liking to him, he built Peter the Iron Spider suit. The suit has the same basic capabilities as the Iron Man armour, such as repulsor-based flight and attacks along with being linked with Tony's A.I. J.A.R.V.I.S. However, the Iron Spider armour can also shoot webs or deploy four mechanical arms similar to Doc Ock's for use in battle or other tasks. Peter had no idea how to use the armour at first, allowing the Living Laser to take control of the Iron Spider suit as well as Iron Man's armour. This control was eventually revoked and Laser was thwarted. Peter eventually mastered the armour and used it on numerous occasions.
Taskmaster later came after the armour for use in his team, when Peter was passing it off as his at a science fair. Before he could obtain it, Peter's class rival Amadeus Cho donned the armour and helped Spider-Man (while being unaware he was Peter) defeat Taskmaster, joining Spider-Man's own team of young super heroes shortly after. The armour was eventually destroyed when Taskmaster broke Green Goblin, Beetle, Scorpion and Doc Ock out of captivity. The Iron Spider's current owner is Amadeus Cho.
