Review:76001 The Bat vs. Bane: Tumbler Chase/LEGOlas
Today I will be reviewing my first Batman set: 76001 The Bat vs. Bane: Tumbler Chase.
Being a big fan of the Dark knight trilogy, (and seeing it was 5$ off) I finally decided to purchase this set. But did I like it? Read on to find out!
Box and instructions[edit | edit source]
The box looks pretty cool, with The Bat chasing Bane in a Tumbler, and The Dark Knight Rises logo on the bottom right. The box also advertises a free downloadable copy of LEGO Batman the video game, cool right? On the back it shows all of the set's features. The instructions where straight-forward and easy to follow. The set also comes with a LEGO comic(whoo-hoo......).

The Bat[edit | edit source]
"And yes mister Wayne it does come in black"
The Bat. A pretty cool vehicle, but it's only fairly accurate.
The build is OK it only get's a little repetitive. The cockpit opens up to reveal seating for two people, just one problem, unless you don't mind bending his cape(currently my only one) or taking it off every time you put him in, you can't fit Batman inside. The Bat has pose-able arms bend-able wings and a move-able tail fin. The Bat is equipped with two flick-fire missiles and a rope(two actually). Some people where wondering why it came with the rope (as the box depicts Gordon hanging on to it), but it's supposed to be the cable that carry's the bomb.It also has blue parts to even out the black which looks a little strange but not too bad.
Overall, The Bat is cool, even if it isn't that accurate to the movie.

The Tumbler[edit | edit source]
"The Tumbler? Oh you wouldn't be interested in that"
Many people didn't like the Tumbler in this set, because it was either too small or too block-y, I for one think that the Tumbler couldn't be much better for the price.
As you can see, I didn't apply the stickers to the Tumbler(if you get this set I suggest you don't either) as it could easily be MOC'd with a camo paint-job.The build is simple and only slightly repetitive. And it even looks pretty accurate. I really like the Tumbler in this set, even if it is a "tiny beige thing". It has two hidden flick-fire missiles, and a opening roof. The back wheels are slightly wobbly, but it doesn't affect how it rolls. It would look awful if I had applied the stickers, so for your sake don't, as it actually looks better without them. The only problem is that Bane has to pretty much lie-down in the Tumbler(so why have a steering wheel?).
Overall, a great depiction of the Tumbler, even if it is kinda small.

The Road-blocks[edit | edit source]
The road-blocks wouldn't be so bad if they weren't bent.

Bent pieces: | ½ / 5 |
Stickers: | 2½ / 5 |

The game code card[edit | edit source]
This set also comes with a Steam game code on a card to download a free copy of LEGO Batman the video game!
I entered in the code I got and............
It didn't work! I tried changing 0's to O's and V's to to Y's and even just re-typed it but to no avail....A big flaw on LEGO's part.I will see if I can get a replacement card or even just a new code but I have my doubts.
UPDATE: I called LEGO costumer service and even though I had to wait like two minutes to get through, they promptly gave me a new code while on the phone. So an A+ for LEGO's great customer service!

The Minifigures[edit | edit source]
The Minifigures are probably the selling point for many people, as they are great!
Batman[edit | edit source]
Batman looks awesome in his 'Dark Knight Rises' suit, my only complaint with him is that his suit is grey instead of black, it would've also been cool to get a Christian Bale based head.
Accuracy: | 4 / 5 |
Detail: | 4½ / 5 |
Awesomeness: | 5 / 5 |
Overall: | 4½ / 5 |
Bane[edit | edit source]
Bane looks just as cool as Batman does, although not entirely accurate with the olive colored mask, he still looks pretty epic.
Accuracy: | 4 / 5 |
Detail: | 4 / 5 |
Awesomeness: | 5 / 5 |
Overall: | 4½ / 5 |
Commissioner Gordon[edit | edit source]
Commissioner Gordon really is an awesome mini-fig! the detail on his head is exceptionally good(looks just like Gary Oldman!).The only weird thing is that he is wearing a S.W.A.T vest, which I think he wore in 'The Dark Knight'. Overall, Gordon is also an A+ Minifigure.

Awesomeness: | 5 / 5 |
Overall: | 4½ / 5 |
Summary[edit | edit source]
This set has it's flaws, but I am definitely glad I bought it, if not for the Minifigures alone!
