Official Description[edit | edit source]
Back in Ninjago it is time for the final battle with the reborn, god-like Overlord. The stakes have never been greater and one ninja must make the ultimate sacrifice to try to stop his reign of destruction.
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
General Cryptor and his Nindroids return to Ninjago and land at Borg Tower, where they line up as the Golden Master arrives and walks to the factory. When he, Cryptor, and Pythor come to Cyrus Borg, he orders them to free the inventor as he has served his purpose with the completion of Project Arcturus. The Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu are melted down to make a weapon for the Overlord as Cryptor informs the restored Borg that the only thing that can be done is bow to the Golden Master.
On the comet, the Ninja despair as their way home is destroyed. However Lloyd refuses to give up and following some wisdom from Sensei Wu, he suggests that they use their elemental powers and Arturus' remains to create a new ship. Encouraged by Lloyd's words, the Ninja repair the ship and using Zane's heart as a power source, escape the comet. Though Zane quickly reaches critical mass by the strain, they manage to reach Ninjago's atmosphere where they use their elemental shields to land safely in their vehicles.
The Overlord has begun an attack on New Ninjago City, but the citizens of Ninjago are filled with hope when they see the Ninja returning. As the Ninja reunite with P.I.X.A.L., Nya, Garmadon and Wu, they receive a message from Borg urging them to head for the Temple of Fortitude, a place where the Overlord and the First Spinjitzu Master battled long ago, where he has a weapon that could defeat the Overlord. Garmadon reminds them of the shield guarding the temple can withstand the power of the Golden Weapons which will protect them against the Golden Master.
The Ninja mange to get into New Ninjago City which the Overlord has turned into an inescapable fortress. Nya is soon taken down in her Samurai Mech and the Ninja divert course to rescue her, only to encounter the Golden Master himself. He uses a massive Spinjitzu tornado to try and destroy them, but they reach the temple in time, blocking the Golden Master by using the shield against him. Nya emerges from the wreckage of her mech only to be confronted by General Cryptor himself, and the two resume their battle.
Back at the Temple of Fortitude, Cyrus presents them with the ultimate weapon—a diet pill. Though it doesn't do what its intent is, the pill has a side effect of shrinking its consumer's entire figure. Garmadon recalls that when he and Wu were still young, they use to play Temple Gate Tiger; a game which involved Wu hitting an object with his staff, and the brothers would never lose. He and Wu assure the Ninja that if they are able to get them close enough, then they would hit the pill straight into the Overlord's mouth.
Nya is defeated by Cryptor, though mocks him by claiming he is weaker than Min-Droid. The miniature Nindroid overhears Cryptor's boast of superiority, and the attacks his general, allowing Nya to escape.
At the temple, the Ninja don armour of the the Stone Warriors, which will protect them against the Golden Master just as the shield begins to break. As they rush out of the temple with their new armour, Nya arrives with a Destructoid and destroys the nearby Nindroids.
The Ninja race into Ninjago City as the Overlord hurls objects at them, but with the armour, they do not slow. In attempt to distract the Ninja, Pythor suggests the Overlord attack the people, though the Serpentine smuggle the citizens underground and the Ninja press on. The sensei throw the pill towards the Overlord, but Pythor sacrifices himself and swallows pill instead. As a result, Pythor becomes minuscule and is chased away by the Falcon.
Outraged by their attempt, the Golden Master tangles the ninja in his webs with his Golden Power, though Zane manages to escape. The Ninja of Ice asks his friends to support him one last time, and the ninja bounce him to the Golden Master and he grabs the armour. Refusing to let go, Zane claims that ninja never quit and begins using his ice to freeze the Overlord, causing his friends to escape. Though the other Ninja encourage him to let go, Zane refuses and continues to freeze the Overlord. As ice flies everywhere, the Ninja flee underground as the Ninja of Ice sacrifices himself. As he dies, Zane remembers his past and is comforted in his final moments by his memories.
As the dust clears, the Ninja emerge onto a frozen wasteland and come across the last remnant of their friend. At Zane's memorial, Borg makes a speech on how Zane changed his views of technology. Revealing a statue of the Ninja, he declares Zane as the Titanium Ninja. Kai then steps up and express his belief that Zane was powered by brotherhood, as that's how Zane powered him. As he finishes, snow begins to fall, and the Ninja and their senseis gather around the statue.
In Borg's Office, P.I.X.A.L mourns the loss of her friend alone. However, she is interrupted as the monitors begin to display her and Zane's moments together, ending with an image of the factory line. She hurries down to the factory where she hears a familiar voice ask “Are we compatible now?”
