Workman Fred was a character that was featured in a few Construction sets in 2000. He later appears in the video game LEGO Racers 2. He drives a yellow digger with a large scoop, yet a tall but tight cabin, the digger also has a hook on the back for towing other cars. Workman Fred was the first of the four racers on Sandy Bay that the player has to race against one-on-one in the Championship mode.
Before his race with the player, he is ridiculed by many of the other residents in Sandy Bay, as he proved very stubborn about claiming that his brand new digger would make him the fastest racer on Sandy Bay and worthy of going on to Xalax. After the player defeats Workman Fred, he must race against Mike the Postman.
