BIONICLE fans rejoice! The popular theme which began in 2001 will be returning next year. Russian site exoforce.ru, which was the site that first revealed the existence of 75014 Battle of Hoth back in 2012, has posted a list of sets which has some very familiar names. The full list of sets are posted below (please note that these are translated from Russian):

We are aware of the color image and if this list or the other photos didn't do it for you, I think that it should be proof enough. However, due to our partnership with LEGO we must ask that you do not directly link to the image, as it has been linked. Thanks. :)

Sorry, You said something about uploading leaked images, but nothing about linking.

That's exactly what I said. If anything I should have specified not to upload it either.

Please have this be real... it looks pretty legitimate. I have a lot of thoughts about this news, but it's too much to say in one comment.

Does Brickimedia have a leaked content policy? I'm thinking that reporting this "news" here prematurely may jeopardize future support from TLG.

Our policy at the moment is that we don't allow any confidential images to be uploaded, but we can report any news. Meiko apparently did a check beforehand to see if this would have any impact on the relationship with TLG, but said it was fine for me to post this.

Just a few more comments on what my second brain the forums are claiming and speculating. Take it all with salt.

  • There will be a few colour palette updates. Lewa will use brown and green (which I actually think sounds sort of cool) and Kopaka will have gold and white (which I'm not as fond of). There is also an unidentified Toa-sized blue and white figure, which could be Gali (but some people don't believe this). All preliminary though, just remember that.
  • Tahu, Onua, and Kopaka will be larger than Lewa, Gali, and Pohatu. I'm okay with this; different sizes are a good way to diversify the line in my opinion. I've been playing around with the CCBS on LDD, and I thought of making the Toa. I was actually going to make Tahu and Onua larger than the others, and if I would make a third their size, it would be Kopaka. The other three should be more agile than powerful, being acrobats, runners, and swimmers. I think that Tahu and Onua can get away with looking powerful, and Kopaka could go either way. Just my interpretations.
  • If the defenders are Matoran, the wave one villains might be spiders included in every/most sets. I guess that makes some sense, more than twelve heroes and one villain.
  • However, the Earth Defender is supposedly the spider from the leaked image, which isn't exactly a Matoran.

Brown and green Lewa does sound pretty cool. But I agree about Kopaka.. silver and white I'd be ok with, but I'd prefer the gold to go with Tahu (gold and red). Not sure how I feel about the different sizes either. But, as long as they're significantly different from the originals, I'll probably get them :) I just hope the story this time around's a bit more easy to follow, and sticks more with the Toa Mata instead of jumping around with Toa teams... say what you like about Ninjago, but I think sticking to a core group and giving them different suits as well as gradually adding new members in is working well for them.

Probably not this compared to this, which would be unnecessary, and more like this and this. I don't actually have the sets, but I think that Brain Attack Stormer is only about one module taller than Evo. That's just Brain Attack though, I think that the difference between the medium and small heroes was a little greater in Breakout.

And I agree about the story and with Ninjago.

I was skeptical after hearing the original rumor (with the picture) but I guess if they have a good history it's real! Wow, the old wiki isn't really this up-to-speed. I'm thinking of just moving completely here; if my edits/rights still haven't carried over they probably never will. :P

You should definitely move completely here! The old site has just gotten so much worse since we left. As for your edits, I don't think they'll carry over at this point, but that doesn't mean you can't build your edit count up again. :D

Yeah, the old wiki is filled with an an overabundance of spam, watermarked images, and creepy users. In other words: it'a pretty depressing.

(Also Do I get my patroller rank back, if that even exists here? Sorry, I had to ask. :P)

exoforce.ru's had good info in the past 2 years or so, I haven't seen a case where they've posted any false lists. As stated in the original post, they were the first place we found out about 75014 Battle of Hoth- I think they posted an image of the set when noone on here/Eurobricks/Brickset/anywhere else even knew it existed. I seem to recall another case last year where they posted a list as well, maybe with Ninjago (I could be completely wrong about that). They're also an actual online shop, so posting fake information wouldn't exactly help their sales.

As someone who never moved on, this is a very happy day for me. I'm still hoping that they haven't discarded all the previous years of story, as that's what kept me interested for so long, but honestly I'm just happy to have BIONICLE back in any form. And plus, we have non-breaking ball sockets now :D

I am pretty excited. Seeing my childhood return is pretty great for me. I was a really big fan of the Phantoka 2008 series. I am one of those who didn't really enjoy the last waves, they felt pretty meh.

I'm going to think that these "defenders" are just spiritual guardians, and nothing more.

But yeah...

I think I'll save most of my thoughts for a blog, but like Meiko, I did manage to move on. However, I'm still looking forward to these, especially since it seems to be a reboot. I did get into the theme pretty late, but through playing Mata Nui Online Game I and II (and the fan made 1.5) the Chronicles arc was my favorite era. It has the best tone, best masks, and best setting.

As long as they don't look absolutely awful (which I sincerely doubt) I'll probably get all six of the Toa. I'm TBD on the villains, but I'll likely only get any of them if they are really cool, like the Bohrok, Rahkshi, or Piraka. Otherwise, I just hope that we get some old-fashioned (but updated) Matoran, and that Takanuva appears sometime. Otherwise, I really don't care what they do as long as it is good.

Some people are speculating that the "Defenders" are Matoran, not villains. That might not be a good business model, but I wouldn't have a problem with it, except getting all/most DC and BIONICLE sets might not leave room for much else....

In my opinion "Defender" doesn't sound like a villain title. I'd suspect they're Matoran or something similar.

I guess I can be excited for this. I pretty much already moved on after it was cancelled but depending on how well this reboot does, I might get back into it.
