Following confirmation of sets based on Captain America: Civil War and teasers for next year's Batman v Superman minifigures, more 2016 information continues to roll out. We now have, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, our first actual look at a 2016 set.

Everyone remember back to last year, around this time, when a grain image heralding the return of BIONICLE surfaced? Well, it seems like constraction fans are in luck, because it is another constraction figure: A First Order Stormtrooper which will join characters such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader, and General Grievous on a line of buildable Star Wars action figures which will be released later this year.

This Stormtrooper has 81 pieces and stands nine inches tall. It will be on display at the San Diego International Comic Con, in addition to a brick-built statue of this new Stormtrooper design.

January 1st 2016 is pegged as the release date, and no price is given. What do you think?

Does anyone know if LEGO is going to release a wave of sets based on the original JP trilogy?

Or is the theme being discontinued next year?

No information on either question yet, I believe.

Would've been nice if they revealed a real set :P

As far as the constraction figs go, it's one of the better ones (still no way I'm getting it though). I'd be interested to see if the blaster pistol on the leg can be easily detached and whether the stormtrooper can hold it.

Huh, neat, looks like this one's blaster really fires. Nice callback to 8008 TECHNIC Stormtrooper with the working blaster. That old one really doesn't hold up, looking at it again, though. :P

The technique for filling in the hips is a little strange, but I'm glad that they did it. Though the Stormtrooper would probably look okay without it, some figures (especially Luke) look really bad with it.

The gun is interesting and the head mold is superb. Otherwise, the figure isn't too special, since he uses the same general build as Luke, Jango, Obi-Wan and Cody, and has parts mostly found within the latter two.

I still like the shoulderpads and shin pieces. I wouldn't mind seeing BIONICLE use them (but not at the cost of the tribal and mechanical aesthetics which set it apart from Star Wars).
