The Satellite Uplink is the final structure that can be built in Crystalien Conflict. It is used by the humans and when constructed enables the EM:4T2 Pulsebeam. It costs 1500 crystals to produce; three times the cost of an engineer, or 100 crystals more than a defence station.
Description[edit | edit source]
The satellite uplink is tall, narrow and white. It covers one square of space, the same as a defence station. The satellite uplink sits on a large cylindrical base, with a cone extending upward. Set near the top are two white flaps that flank a small blue satellite dish with a white rod protruding from the center. Above this is a large white dish with a blue centre. The large dish, the small one and the flaps all rotate side to side as one when the uplink is functional.
Qualities[edit | edit source]
The satellite uplink, as the final structure possible, can only be created after every other building has been constructed and is directly preceded by the technology centre.
In itself the uplink does nothing, but once built it enables the EM:4T2 Pulsebeam, a massive blast of white energy sent from a satellite to a designated spot on the battlefield. While the uplink is only 1500 crystals the pulsebeam costs 3000, making it a weapon to use sparingly. The beam of energy has a concentrated blast radius of about one square, roughly equal to that of a defense station. The blast effects an area of about five squares, however, a space larger than a radar station. Most buildings and vehicles within the radius will be instantly destroyed, with but a small number left. These still are reduced to a fraction of their previous health bar. Any vehicles or buildings outside of the blast radius are also effected adversely, though not nearly as fatally. The pulsebeam leaves behind a large circular patch of blackened ground, marking the spot that was targeted.
The satellite uplink in two standard levels of the game; 5050, the second to last level when playing as the aliens, and conflict mode, the final level for both the humans and aliens. The uplink appears in one other mission, however. One of the bonus levels, enabled by the code manic, requires the user to create four satellite uplinks in order for the astronauts to watch a concert.
