Forums are dead. At most, we get 5 people participating, if we're lucky. Usually, it's two or three. Which basically means nothing new is getting implemented, and nothing is getting resolved. I've been talking with a few people about how we can get some more forum participation, here are a few ideas:

  • Having all forums on one big page
  • Having comments sections (like new articles and blogs)

Anyway, to those four other people reading, please discuss or add any other ideas below NovaHawk 22:51, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

I do not really like the idea of having all forums on one big page. It would be difficult to track the discussion, and if I understand right, there would only be one discussion lest it gets confusing with five different tangents, and 15 tangents of tangents. Article comments were my idea (well, CJC's, but I brought them up) and I think that would be best. It would probably not be very active, at least to begin with, but it would be better integrated into the wiki than forums are at the moment, and I think that would encourage discussion better. Oh, I misunderstood. I thought these were discussion forums. In that case, I think the first idea would be better. :] Berrybrick (talk) 23:17, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
Do we mean article comments in the sense of a page with the idea, then comments underneath? CJC95 (talk) 23:15, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
We do now :P Berrybrick (talk) 23:21, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
If I misinterpreted anything, please overwrite it NovaHawk 23:08, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
Having comments on our mainspace pages would be a mess. It's the worst thing I've seen at Brickia. I strongly support having a single discussion page like wikipedia:simple:Wikipedia:Simple talk. Personally I never liked the forum namespace since it's just one extra thing to keep track of. --ToaMeiko (talk) 14:19, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
? It'd be the forum space that'd have comments wouldn't it? NovaHawk 23:08, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
It'd be a single page where each discussion would have a new section. --ToaMeiko (talk) 17:34, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
Also- can we stop the forums auto-archiving? I never know if it's actually archived, or just auto'd, and still under discussion. (for an example.. this page itself, before I posted this!) -Cligra
It says "awaiting archival" instead of "archived". --ToaMeiko (talk) 17:34, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
For those of us that didn't make the system, that makes no difference. Awaiting archival implies that it's over, and should be archived by an administrator. Not the case, with most of the pages I've looked at. -Cligra
It shouldn't be waiting archival until it hasn't been edited for a week or something. It was from when there were just too many forums. Seeing as there are less now, and they don't get edited so often, perhaps we should change this. UltrasonicNXT (talk)
This is why I proposed the single-page forum concept like wikipedia:simple:Wikipedia:Simple talk. Not only do people only have to look at one page to see all the current discussions about the wiki, but having them all on one page makes it easier to spot which discussions are truly resolved and can be archived. --ToaMeiko (talk) 20:13, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
