Review:9093 Bone Cruncher/Cligra
The ugly monster truck that could[edit | edit source]
9093 Bone Cruncher is a Racers set that was intended to be released in 2012, but actually made it out in 2011, as my purchase of it attests to. I'm not really sure what made me buy it, there was just something about it's "rugged" (ugly)-ness that appealed to me. As it is, I'm quite glad I picked it up, as it really is quite nice, in a way. It reminds me of a cross between the original TECHNIC sets, and the odd Xalax subtheme of Racers. But anyway, on to the review, I suppose.
The Sections (in no particular order):
Building experience[edit | edit source]
The build was fun, but not particularly exciting or challenging... Just average, really.
Parts[edit | edit source]
Some pretty good parts (the minifigure's helmet in particular), but nothing really special.
The completed model[edit | edit source]
The model, when completed, ends up looking not quite as ugly as it does on the box, and ends up looking, somehow, fairly pleasing to the eye. The really just consists of a cockpit stuck on top of ridiculously large (although sadly realistic) suspension, and it's primary "play feature" is the fact that, when bashed against a stationary object really hard, the included minifigure (more on him later), is shot out of the car (it really does require a fair bit of force to launch him a reasonable distance). A small quibble: Simply put, the car has no steering mechanism at all. Not that it really matters, still....
Minifigures[edit | edit source]
One peculiar pants-less redneck, apparently named Motor Mike. Really, he looks quite good, if you discount the lack of pants...
Overall[edit | edit source]
Rating out of 20: 15
Well, certainly a passing grade, a bit above average, really. I would recommend buying it if: you want a nice, playable set, or are a Racers fan, or simply curious. It probably isn't worth it to buy any of the other new Racers sets if you have this one though, as they all seem pretty much the same. So, that's all really... -Cligra
