Comment: Requirement lowered to 50 mainspace edits --ToaMeiko (talk) 23:50, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

This is something that was addressed a few months ago on Brickia, but I think should be re-addressed here. Primarily what I'm suggesting is that the minimum mainspace edit count to vote on user rights requests be dropped to 50. 100 is a bit high in my opinion (it's easy to be an active part of the community for a few weeks without even getting to 100 mainspace edits). Unlike on Wikia, we probably won't be getting random people from various places just coming out of nowhere and voting, so minimum requirements aren't as much of a concern I don't think. Honestly, I think having a high minimum edit requirement such as 100 may even promote unconstructive edits just for the ability to vote. Does reducing the minimum requirement of mainspace edits to 50 sound good? --ToaMeiko (talk) 23:13, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

  • I'd be fine with that. The community is more tight-knit at Brickimedia, for starters, unlike at wikia, and 50 mainspace edits should be enough to get to know the community. BrickfilmNut (talk) 23:15, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

  • Yay 50. Ajraddatz (talk) 03:31, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
  • I'd prefer 51, but I guess we can do 50. CJC95 (talk) 11:40, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
  • I don't see a need for any mainspace edit requirement. Everyone's opinion should be valid, regardless of their mainspace edits.-czech
    • What it does is prevent vote fraud, such as preventing users to vote a certain way with multiple accounts of theirs. --ToaMeiko (talk) 19:57, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
    • That would work best if there wasn't a minimum support percentage requirement. CJC95 (talk) 22:14, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
    • anyone can participate in democratic activities, its just that rfrs in particular are pretty serious business and we gotta watch for sockpuppets FB100Z (talk) 03:48, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

  • 50 I'm ok with, definitely not ok with none- that's instantly condemning checkusers to hours of wasted time, and leaves it wide open for meatpuppets NovaHawk 01:06, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
  • id say 50 but cut the 'mainspace' clause. other namespaces have feelings too FB100Z (talk) 08:19, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
    • Are you saying just make it 50 edits, not having to be mainspace edits? Agent Spy (talk)

        • People could make random stuff on their user pages unproductively just to get to the 50 mark without showing any benefit to the wiki. -SirComputer (talk) 17:14, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
          • But they'd likely get warned and blocked in the meantime. --ToaMeiko (talk) 17:23, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
          • To be fair, if they put that much effort in, they can vote in one silly RfR as far as I care ;P CJC95 (talk) 17:34, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
