Official Description[edit | edit source]

On the island, Lloyd learns that his father used to train under the deceitful Master Chen and when the Ninja meet the playfully deceitful ruler, they realize they are in a tournament where "only one can remain."

Plot[edit | edit source]

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

The ninja arrive to Master Chen's island where they find his great empire. Sensei Garmadon tells them a story from his past, Chen was his sensei who betrayed him and joined the Serpentine during wars they fought with snakes. Lloyd asks why his father never told him he had a sensei. Garmadon answers some things are meant to be a secret.

Clouse leads the Elemental Masters to a palace where Chen welcomes them to his Tournament of Elements. He recognizes everybody's power and calls Lloyd "Green Savior". He explains how the tournament works: only one can remain. Zugu opens the bracket drum and Elemental Masters see who they will fight against. He presents Jade Blades, valuable weapons that present life. Their first contest will be to collect all the blades in the palace, and one who doesn't find his, loses. When Garmadon asks what happens when somebody loses, Chen answers: "Nobody would want to lose" with laughing. Chen's people from Kabuki lead the ninja to their rooms. Kai asks Skylor what's her power but she doesn't want to answer. The fight for Jade Blades starts and Kai and Skylor race to the roof. Kai loses but sees a Jade Blade on the ground and runs to get it. Cole eats too much noodles that he can barely move, so Invizable tricks him. Clouse tries to stop Lloyd from getting his blade using his dark magic but Garmadon breaks in and stops him. Kai loses to Karloff but cheats his victory in front of Chen removing Karloff's fist and getting the last Jade Blade. Master Chen calls him a loser, and eliminates him from the tournament by opening a door beneath him when he falls to a dark pit.

Afterwards, the ninja get suspicious about Chen's true intentions and thus decide to meet that night to search Chen's empire for Zane. Kai tries to smuggle Jay to his room but doesn't want to let Skylor know what are they doing, so he pushes Jay off his balcony where he stays hanging until Skylor finally leaves. Cole accidentally discovers that Kai's bed can be turned which lead the ninja to a secret complex of tunnels built inside the palace that allow Chen and Clouse to spy on contestants. As Jay and Kai spy Skylor training through holes on Clouse's painting in her room, they see her using a flame and realize she has powers of Fire. They go deeper investigating tunnels and find a cave where Eyezor leads few cultists. They capture them and take their dresses and skulls to sneak into Chen's secret cave area in disguise. When they come, two cultists drag captive Karloff to Chen. Chen uses Staff of Elements to remove his power and lets him go...but to the factory. The ninja spot ice in his staff and realize he's already taken Zane's power. Their face paintings start melting so they run before Chen realizes they are imposters but too late. Chen sends army of cultists to catch them. When they start thinking they escaped, giant axes lead them to a trap. Huge Anaconda snake chases them through a tunnel. It bits Jay's leg but they escape back to Kai's room. They realize that the tournament is nothing but a front to steal everyone's elemental powers.

Spoilers end here.
