Re: Images/licensing[edit source]

  • Yep, seen all the image changes, thanks for all the work and let me know if there's anything I can do :) Yeah, transparent 4000 PNGs almost definitely straight from the LEGO cache (or at the worst from another site that took them from LEGO cache). "None selected" should be redirected to "No license"- "None selected" was from the time before we forced a license to be specified. I would just redirect it myself, but I'm not sure if that'd interfere with what you're doing NovaHawk 10:25, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
    • Ok great, and I'll let you know if I have any ideas with sorting the others (can't think of anything right now). I've redirected that template over since we really shouldn't need it anymore NovaHawk 00:20, 7 July 2017 (UTC)

Part/new guide[edit source]

  • Hey, no sorry there's no real guide or anything for it. Basically it's merging {{Part}} and {{PartGallery}} together into one template (like this). "Image" basically becomes any sort of appropriate image of the part, "Image1/EID1/CID1" become three parameters of a part with a specific Element ID (then Image2/EID2/CID2 become a second Element, etc). Usually the Element IDs (EID) aren't listed on these older pages, I usually just punch the Design ID into Brickset to get them. Color IDs (CID) can either be the ID of the color LEGO uses, or the official name of the color (eg, both "5" and "Brick Yellow" work for tan). Sorry if I didn't explain that well, let me know if you have any questions :) NovaHawk 09:08, 27 July 2017 (UTC)
    • When we placed that template down on every part page, most of our part numbers went by systems used on fansites like Peeron and BrickLink instead of using official numbers. Lke we had Part:57899 at Part:x1741 (Peeron's number) instead. Basically anything with a letter in it is definitely wrong, the others are just likely to be wrong. Usually I have to get a set the part appears in and look the set up in Brickset's inventory to get the proper part number (Brickset gets their part data straight through LEGO's API) NovaHawk 22:53, 27 July 2017 (UTC)
      • It's a bug, what you did looks fine. I thought I actually fixed this bug a while ago, anyway I'll take a look at it now NovaHawk 23:22, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
        • Should be all fixed, not sure why some numbers were square number+2 instead of square number+1 but it should be all working now. I found a couple of other problems while I was there (they won't stop the template from functioning properly though), will take a look at those when I can NovaHawk 00:01, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

Block[edit source]

  • There's no "thank" button in the block log, so just wanted to say thanks for taking care of that corrupt user who was blatantly abusing rights that they should no longer have (also when are you going to make an admin rights request? :P) NovaHawk 00:38, 30 July 2017 (UTC)

Re: Minifigure Part articles[edit source]

  • Hey Lcawte, yeah sorry there should have been something in there (must of have forgotten to add it in). I've put something in there for now, hopefully it makes sense but let me know if it needs any fixing up. And thanks for the cat cleanup, they really are in a pretty big mess (just looking at them now). 15 mins after typing that last sentence, I've been looking deeper into the structure and I'm so confused- we've got Category:Minifigure Wear and Category:Accessories (which seems to be for minifigure accessories, video game items, random bricks and anything that has the word "accessory" in its name). Category:Minifigure Headgear also refers to both helmets and hair. Category:Minifigure Parts seems to contain so many random things when it should only be a supercategory really. Not to mention all the category names need to have their second word decapitalized. Ugh.... I'm going to have to look into fixing this (not really around right now, will hopefully be able to do something in a week or so though) NovaHawk 11:05, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

Double redirects[edit source]

  • Hi Lcawte, not sure if I'm meant to comment on closed things on Phabricator, just wanted to say thanks for the tip with RefreshSpecial- I've run it on DoubleRedirects (and only DoubleRedirects) and it all seems to be working fine :) NovaHawk 11:39, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

Re: Template Changes[edit source]

  • Hey, sure, I'll try to keep that in mind- what kind of templates do I need to worry about? I did some things with {{Set header}} a while back which is on virtually every set page so I'm guessing that may be what triggered it? But there are also things like {{Header}}/{{Background}} and {{ThemeCat}} which aren't directly transcluded by any pages but the infoboxes use them for styling and categories, do they cause issues as well? NovaHawk 23:43, 3 April 2018 (UTC)

Renaming image[edit source]

Any idea why I get "Error 503 Service Unavailable Service Unavailable

Guru Meditation: XID: 1007972732

Varnish cache server"

when I try to rename File:Ant-man legos.jpg?

CJC (talk) 22:32, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

Nope, what are you attempting to rename it to? --Lewis Cawte (talk) ShoutWiki Staff 23:12, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
I just tried it now and it worked, so whatever it was seems to have resolved itself. CJC (talk) 17:51, 7 May 2018 (UTC)

Blog Creation Error[edit source]

Hi Lcawte. Not sure who's still around to talk to about this, so I thought I'd ask you since you seem to still be active.
I'm trying to create a blog post, but I get an error that I've copy-pasted over here. Any advice? BrickfilmNut (talk) 17:16, 7 September 2018 (UTC)

Re: Activity[edit source]

  • Hey Lcawte! Yeah I should be back to hanging around here pretty often- I've found that it's really hard for me to keep track of LEGO info when I'm not on here (don't know if it's the format of the site or just because it's going into my head better when I'm making pages). I'll probably just be sticking to Star Wars/Wizarding World/Super Heroes/Ninjago and general maintenance/vandalism stuff at least for now though. That script sounds amazing- it's one of those things I've thought about in the back of my mind but didn't really know how to go about making, so I've wasted hours copying/pasting that URL instead :P Anyway, I'll try and remember my login and send you an email NovaHawk 04:59, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
    • Hey Lcawte, sorry I've just randomly disappeared again, been down sick for a week or so. Should hopefully be back up and running soon NovaHawk 10:59, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
      • So... yeah I disappeared again as well, sorry about that. Had some stuff happening (will send you an email tomorrow). Probably won't be around too much around Christmas but I will be able to at least check in once a day and hopefully get some 2019 articles going NovaHawk 11:20, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

Quantcast extension[edit source]

Hey, was mw:Extension:Quantcast removed from this wiki? LEGO wants annual activity reports from me as ambassador so it's helpful to have that usage analytical data to give them. If there's a reason it was removed such as ShoutWiki privacy policy or something along those lines let me know and I'll look into alternative options. Thanks, ToaMeiko (talk) 21:34, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Special:Version: It is still installed. --Lewis Cawte (talk) ShoutWiki Staff 23:05, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

  • Awesome, thanks very much for taking care of all those, did a couple of pages and it definitely made things a lot easier :) I Should be able to finish them off when I can get back online in a few hours NovaHawk 11:57, 12 January 2019 (UTC)

I just got in[edit source]

  • Hey, so I was just about to send you an email, thought I'd try Facebook for the millionth time (still been trying every couple of days) and it let me in! Just figuring out how to authorise you to run the pages now in case I get locked out again :) NovaHawk 01:31, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
    • So, looks like you'd already got access to 'pedia? I've given you access to 'media as well in case you need it NovaHawk 01:41, 14 February 2019 (UTC)

Bot[edit source]

Don't suppose you can get Lcawtebot to ignore categories inside #asks? Keeps breaking them but moving the category to the bottom of the page. CJC (talk) 20:16, 6 March 2019 (UTC)

Sounds like a bug in Pywiki's cosmetic changes, to be honest. I'd file a bug for it upstream, but, I'm not sure what extension that comes from. --Lewis Cawte (talk) ShoutWiki Staff 13:14, 7 March 2019 (UTC)

The Future of Brickimedia[edit source]

Hello, Lcawte.

...I don't like it, but I think we need to admit something to ourselves. Brickimedia is dying. Right now, there are only four active users (excluding me because I have not been doing much on this wiki for a while).

We need to think of things we can do to rebuild the userbase, because wikis are nothing without users. Thank you for considering my thoughts. Thank you if you're reading this. If you're not, then you're not reading this. Help Save Brickipedia!The3vilbanana, of the Bachland Wiki (talk) 02:19, 5 December 2019 (UTC)
