[List of appearances]

Aquaman, or Arthur Curry, is a DC Comics Super Heroes minifigure who was first released in 2013. Aquaman is voiced by Scott Porter in LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham and LEGO DC Super Villains.

Description[edit | edit source]

Comic book

Aquaman has the Skater's hairpiece in yellow and a light nougat head with black eyes with white pupils, cheek bones, orange eyebrows and with two expressions, serious and angry. He has a muscular orange torso with some scales on it to show its cut against his body with a yellow belt above his hips with the symbol of Atlantis. His backprinting features the back of the belt, the suit's cut on his back, and some more of the scales Aquaman's legs, hips, and hands are green. He wields a golden trident introduced in the Atlantis theme.

In the video games[edit | edit source]

In both LEGO Batman 2 and 3, Aquaman has his set appearance.

His appearance is identical to the one in LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. In some preliminary screenshots from the video game, Aquaman has Draco Malfoy and Bruce Wayne's hairpiece in tan and a different torso which has a muscular print with scales in the same manner of Killer Croc to show its cut against his body with a different yellow belt above his hips with the symbol of Atlantis.

In LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, Aquaman can shoot water from his trident, dive underwater, and has super strength. Aquaman is unable to swim in certain waters of Gotham City. Aquaman's abilities remain largely the same in LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, but he is also able to swim between the surface and seabed and a targetting function is implemented so that he can aim his water blasts. Rather than jabbing his trident like in the last game, he brandishes it with more skill. When both Aquaman and his enemies are in the water, he is able to summon a flurry of fish to attack them.

In LEGO Dimensions, Aquaman is included in a fun pack. He can still spray/shoot water and swim underwater, but can now also control Atlantis sea creatures. Additionally, he includes his Aqua Watercraft.

Background[edit | edit source]

Arthur Curry is the son of Atlanna, the banished queen of Atlantis, and the lighthouse keeper Tom Curry. This gives Arthur a unique physiology which is "super" even among Atlanteans. He has enhanced strength and endurance, incredible speed when swimming, the ability to breath underwater, and limited telepathy that can affect undersea life. Aquaman's trident, a gift from Poseidon, is a badge of his power and also allows him to manipulate water and channel magic.

Aquaman once served as the king of Atlantis before handing the title over to his half-brother, Orm. The humans see Aquaman as an Atlantean, while the Atlanteans see Aquaman as a human. Neither want him and think he is equally as useless. Only Mera stands by his side, even though she is criticized for doing so. Despite his abandonment, Aquaman seeks to defend both the surface world and Atlantis.

He was once a member of the Others, a team of misfits wielding Atlantean relics, but later left them and became a founding member of the Justice League. Arthur is forced to pick between his two worlds when Orm declares war on the surface world and initiates an attack on Boston. The League learns that Vulko is pulling strings to convince Aquaman to take his rightful place on the throne of Atlantis, but Orm refuses to listen and believes that Arthur has been corrupted by living on dry land. After fighting his brother, Aquaman wins and takes control of the Atlantean army, accepting his responsibility as king again so that he can help make peace between the two worlds.

In the video games[edit | edit source]

Aquaman is a member of the Justice League.

In The LEGO Movie[edit | edit source]

Aquaman makes a cameo appearance towards the end of the film alongside some of the other Justice League heroes after Bad Cop's parents are freed from the Kragle.
