Cragger is a Legends of Chima minifigure released in 2013. He is the primary antagonist of the theme in 2013, but appears as a protagonist in the 2014 and 2015 story and sets.

Description[edit | edit source]

Cragger is a crocodile which has golden armour with a transparent flat blue stud (CHI), which is absent in the show. He has a red torn up cape. His head mould is earth green on top and olive green on the bottom with lots of jagged teeth. His left eye lacks any features and has a large scar around it, indicating he is half-blind. His arms are olive green but his hands are dark green. Cragger's torso is scaly with muscles and red straps shaped like an X and in the middle of his torso there is a circle of CHI, which is blocked by his harness in the set, but appears in the show. He has red straps continuing onto his legs. The bottom of his feet are printed with claws.

Weapons[edit | edit source]

Cragger's weapon of choice in the show and in one set is the Vengdulize. The Vengdualize is a dual-sided golden chainsaw with massive blades and a short but beautifully detailed handle. It is in the shape of a crocodiles' jaws, and has red lasers in the middle when being used. Cragger carries it with him at all times, and uses it for combat, usually against Laval. Before this, he used a small one-sided wooden sword.

In the Ultimate Speedor Tournament, he uses the Vengious which is a one-sided, silver version of the Vengdulize, and a simple mace known as the Gronk. In the Croc Swamp Hideout, he uses the Grandourious, which has the exact same chainsaw as the Vengious, but has a longer handle, which has an axe attached. In the show, he carries a small gun that shoots Croc Flares, which sets off a full armed battle. He also uses his tail as a weapon, which proved very useful for catching enemies off guard.

Background[edit | edit source]

baby Cragger with Crominus and Crunket

Cragger was very competitive from the start. He was best friends with the prince of the Lion tribe, Laval, and the two played together for much of their younger years. However, Cragger and Laval sneaked into the room containing the pool of Chi, an extremely powerful energy source on Chima. Due to its potency, only those of a certain age were allowed to tap into its raw energy. Still youthful and therefore not permitted to use it, Cragger's curiosity got the better of him and he placed an orb of Chi in his chest. Unprepared as he was for the effects of the energy, Cragger was overwhelmed by the power. After the power wore off, Worriz questioned him about the chi and Cragger tried to sneak into the Lion Temple again with Worriz. He was once again caught by the lions. When escaping, he set off a croc flare, which initiated an all-out war. He went to the Fangs, a dangerous place that Laval knew. The two had a talk, and it ended in Cragger apologizing for the Croc Flare, which Laval was unaware of. Cragger tries to talk to his parents, but to no avail. In the end, Cragger's parents fall off a cliff, and Cragger becomes king. Cragger knew that the lions were innocent, but his evil sister Crooler wanted him to destroy the lions, and gave him his father's golden helmet.

In episode 2: The Great Story, Crooler takes control of a depressed Cragger by using a Persuader Plant on him, and he declared war on the lions. After almost killing Laval after a Speedor tournament, Eris and Gorzan saved Laval. He retreats to get allies of his own and teamed up with the Wolves and Ravens. Cragger's plan was to launch a massive attack against the lions during Laval's age of becoming ceremony (while having Plovar inconveniently come during his speech). The attack worked well, and while Cragger's allies crippled the lions defenses, Cragger stole some Chi and made a run for it, with Laval in hot pursuit. Laval wins and tries to finish him, before he realizes that it's Cragger. After a lecture on peace, harmony, and Chi, Cragger throws Laval into a creek and steals back his stolen Chi. Even with the Eagles and Gorillas, the Lions are no match for the Crocodile forces. The effects of the flower wear of, and Cragger realizes that he's done something horrible to his best friend, and tries to save him, but is sprayed with the flower again. However, Laval comes back with a Legend Beast, shocking everyone. Cragger plugs an orb of Chi into his harness, but is swatted away, and is forced to retreat.

In episode 3, The Warrior Within, Crooler has seemingly took complete control over Cragger's mind, with him only questioning her statements when the effect wears off. He first comes in at the Lion Chi temple with his sister, asking for Chi. Despite Laval still being hostile, Lagravis still gives him the Chi, as it is the rule. Laval comes after them while they're leaving in his Command Ship, and warns them about their Chi usage. After Crawley is swatted away, and Crug is losing against Laval, Cragger gives Laval all of his Chi, with Crug bearing witness. He then broadcasts that the Lions stole their Chi, and will never give them any more, in front of his entire tribe. Laval and Eris come back to give the Chi back, but Cragger mumbles threats to them, (that his tribe can't hear) which forces Laval to scream "YOU'RE NEVER GETTING OUR CHI", in front of all the crocodiles, making them hate him even more. Laval throws their Chi down the Gorge of Eternal Depth, and keeps one to fight off their army. However, Cragger pushes him over, only for Laval to be saved by Eris' Eagle Intercepter. Cragger then sent a message to Razar and Worriz to come and attack Laval with their armies, but because Gorzan was protecting a flower on the road, they couldn't come. Because their allies were held back, Cragger had to retreat. When Laval goes to find the Legend Beast, Cragger cuts him off, and reveals that he still had an orb of Chi, which he uses. When everything heats up, Plomar comes in, annoying Cragger, Laval, and all of the Crocs. When they throw weapons at him and force him to leave, Cragger's forces and his Chi overwhelm Laval, until an army of Eagles and Lions come in to save him. However, Crooler comes up with another brilliant plan, thinking that the lions only have allies because they control the Chi.

Cragger, also appeared in the online webisodes, but his debut came surprisingly late. However, though his webisode debut was incredibly short showed that there was still hope for him.

Soon after the failed attack on the Eagle Spire, Worriz visited Cragger and informed him of the hundred year moon phenomenon that would take place in a few days time. Under the influence of Crooler, the crocodile king decided to take advantage of the situation by ordering her sister to kidnap G'Loona. He held the little gorilla hostage at the Forever Rock in the hopes that Laval and his friends would go looking for her and be destroyed by the insane wolves. ("The Hundred Year Moon")

Once again under Crooler's influence, Cragger set a trap for ShadoWind by the Grand Archway canyon prior to the next Chi-day race. ShadoWind managed to elude it however and the only one captured by the nets was the crocodile king himself. Just before the race, Cragger was informed by Crug and Crawley that the other tribes were planning to cheat. Indeed, during the race, Cragger fell victim to the bear's honey causing him to crash. After rioting broke out in the stands, Cragger noticed Crooler sneaking into the lion city with the wolves and concerned, followed. He at last found them just outside of the sacred pool where he was aghast to find that Crooler was helping the wolves steal the chi and sided with them, leaving the crocodile king alone. Just before fighting broke out, however, Laval arrived and the two worked together again to battle Worriz. When the wolf copter arrived to take the Chi, Cragger grabbed onto the bottom of the craft and dueled Worriz until Windra stomped on his hand and the crocodile fell, only to be saved by Laval. Shortly after, Crawley and Crug arrived in a claw ripper to take their injured king home. ("Foxtrot")

He arrived at the crocodile swamp to find Crooler with her half of the stolen Chi. Still angered about her betrayal, he ordered her thrown out of the castle. ("The Chi Jackers")

A few days later, Cragger witnessed a croc flare sent up by Crooler, though disregarded it as he was tired of fighting. He then noticed Crooler's basket of Persuader Plants and unintentionally inhaled its controlling aroma. Now filled with rage, he ordered his troops ready and by the time Crooler returned with a truckload of the wolves Chi, his forces were prepared for battle. They followed the wolves to the canyon where Laval and Eris escaped from them moments prior and the two tribes battled. Unfortunately, the Wolves were overpowered by the Chi and Cragger's forces were defeated with ease. ("Balancing Act")

Cragger soon managed to convince the ravens and wasted no time in launching his attack on the Lion City. His forces used their last remaining orbs to blow past the lion defenses with ease, though Laval summoned his allies. To counter this, Cragger ordered the rhinos (except Rogon who left to find Eris) to stop the gorillas and the ravens to distract the eagles. With the lion defenses gone and their allies too occupied, Cragger charged forward in the heli-crocter. When he reached the bridge to the city, he was thrown out of the vehicle by Laval and the two faced off while the bridge retracted and the crocter's blades spun behind them. Eventually Cragger gained the advantage, though it was short lived as he was pushed off the bridge by the closing lion head and pulled Laval down with him. As they fell, Cragger remembered all the good times the two had had together and was snapped out of his destiny madness by Laval's act of sacrifice. When he landed on top of Laval, the lion spoke his apparent final words, though with Lagravis soon approaching, Cragger snuck off with the remains of Laval's crown, proceeding to the fallen lion's room where he expressed remorse about his wrongdoings. It was there that he found a note from Laval saying that he was in fact alive and had gone to get help. Filled with hope, Cragger returned to the battle field just in time to witness Laval return ridding the Crocodile Legend with his mother Crunket. ("For Chima!")

Before venturing into the Outlands, Cragger and the other heroes stopped by the Lion City as Lagravis reminisced about everything that had happen since the battle at The Fangs. Undeterred by his fathers words however, Laval inspired Cragger and the others, prompting them to race out of the Lion Temple.

They met up with Crunket near the entrance to the Outlands, where she explained how the Crawlers were created.

Climbing Cavora's falls

Following the defeat of the Crawlers, Chima enjoyed a short era of peace. During that time, Cragger was gifted a new tank by his father and spent hours playing with Laval. He participated in the monthly market day race, but crashed when he and Laval lost control of their Speedorz while attempting to use Chi. That night, he and Laval held a bonfire at the Forever Rock where the warriors found themselves debating how Chima came to be. ("Fire Dreaming")

Thinking the Mammoths might lead him to where the Hunters were keeping his tribe, Cragger secretly followed them to the Gorge of Eternal Depth. There, he encounter Plovar who encouraged him not to follow them into the gorge, yet the crocodile did anyway. There, he discovered the ice bridge the Hunters had built to use the Gorge as a secret transport. However he was quickly discovered by the mammoths and Cragger chied-up, forgetting that he was standing on ice and fell through. Plovar managed to fly him out of the Gorge, much to the humiliation of the crocodile prince who refused to admit that the little bird had saved his life. Cragger then realized that the Hunters were traveling underground and tried to warn the tribes, but was ordered back to the Crocodile Swamp by Plovar to rest.

Later in the day, he was visited by Laval and Flinx dropping off the Crocodile Legend and told them about the underground tunnels, which they had already discovered. However, they soon found themselves under attack by the Hunters who demanded that they hand over the phoenix child. A skirmish took place, resulting in the accidental capture of Plovar. ("Cool and Collected")

With the other bird

Cragger lead a scouting party near the Hunter fortress as it passed through a forest. When the glacier knocked a tree over, Cragger caught a falling bird of similar appearance to Plovar. It reminded him of Plovar and he commented on missing him. Just then, the cleaning bird himself broke free of the ice and landed next to Cragger. However, Plovar was outraged to find Cragger holding the other bird and stormed off mistaking it for a replacement for him. The search party apparently found this funny and began snickering. Embarrassed, Cragger raced after him and eventually learned of the trophy room. The two then hurried to the Lion City to tell Laval about it, but he was too busy dealing with his kingly duties to launch an attack on it yet. ("The King Thing")

Cragger was always an extremely-competitive kid. He lived for the rush of victory. Laval actually liked that about him when they first met, and the two became best friends at a very young age. At the time, both cared only about adventure, fun, and the occasional prank. Cragger challenged Laval’s Lion sense of propriety, and Laval had a way of getting Cragger to laugh at himself – no small feat given Cragger’s oversized ego. But everything changed when Cragger had his first taste of Chi. There are strict rules about how old one must be to use Chi, and Cragger was far too young to handle its awesome power. For Cragger, Chi gave him that sense of ultimate power he had always been seeking. He never completely recovered from the experience. This was the beginning of the end for Laval and Cragger, as well as Chima’s thousand-year Age of Peace.

After a failed attempt at seizing control of Chima’s CHI, Cragger is now once again friends with Laval. They have teamed up to save the CHI from an enemy from the Outlands, but all is not going smoothly. Cragger has to work hard to regain the trust of his old friend, while at the same time searching for his missing father, King Crominus. Cragger hopes that, when this adventure is over, the past will be forgotten and he and Laval can be buddies, just like in the old days.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • All of Cragger's main 2013 weapons are a play on the word "Vengeance".
