Mungus make the hurting! Happy! Happy!
―Mungus

Mungus is a mammoth Legends of Chima Big Fig released in summer 2014. He is the younger son of Maula and the brother of Mottrot. Mungus has appeared in every episode of the third season of Legends of Chima: The Animated Series.

Description[edit | edit source]

Mungus is the largest figure in the Chima line, utilizing a body mould similar to The Hulk's. His flesh tone is Sand Yellow. His head uses the same mould as his mother Maula and brother Mottrot, meaning he is the first Big Fig with removable headgear. On his trunk there appears to be ripped flesh, exposing muscle. Enveloping his neck is a large patch of brown fur and on his chest is a rip showing glowing ribs. His knee also features a similar tear. Mungus also has a large belt with three CHI orbs attached. Below the belt is another large patch of hair that acts as a loin cloth.

Background[edit | edit source]

Prior to being re-awoken

Mottrot originally lived in ancient Chima when the Phoenix first descended and built their academies atop Mount Cavora. Shortly thereafter, he and the rest of his family joined with Sir Fangar after the Saber-Tooth Tiger had accumulated so much knowledge from the Phoenix that he became convinced he should be the ruler of Chima. Their forces plowed through Chima using an underground cave network causing destruction everywhere they went until the Phoenix used the Great Illumination to cast Mottrot and the rest of the hunters into the Gorge of Eternal Depth. Down there, Mungus was frozen along with the rest of the Hunters in a dreamless sleep for ten thousand years until he was revived by his mother Maula. Due to his immense size, three orbs of Chi were required to keep Mungus awake as opposed to just one. ("Fire Dreaming")

The mammoths followed their end of the deal and retreated back to the Gorge of Eternal Depth which they used to return to the Hunter's fortress. There, they regrouped with Stealthor and Vardy's forces and set off through the underground tunnels in search of the phoenix child Flinx for Sir Fangar's collection. However, their efforts proved in vain as they accidentally captured Skinnet who released his smell, poisoning the caves. Eventually however, they found Flinx at the Crocodile Swamp dropping off the Crocodile Legend and launched an attack with her two sons. During the battle, Mottrot caused a flurry of snow that provided cover for Mottrot grab the phoenix child. Yet when they returned to Sir Fangar, they discovered that Mottrot had actually grabbed Plovar instead, much to the enrage of Sir Fangar. ("Cool and Collected")

Mungus and Mottrot were in charge of guarding Sir Fangar’s trophy room when Plovar attempted to escape, though after their fun with the rhinos, the two mammoths decided to play hockey with the little bird before throwing him out of the fortress. Later in the day, the accompanied the Hunters to attack the Lion City and seize the phoenix child, though they failed and were forced to retreat. ("The King Thing")

When Worriz and Gorzan arrived at the foot of the Ice Fortress, Mungus and Mottrot served as gunners until Sir Fangar ordered to attack them directly. Mungus overturned their pack tracker with ease, yet before he could deal any harm to them, the rhinos arrived and he began playing in the snow with them. ("A Very Slippery Slope")

Encountering Laval

As the Ice Mountain moved toward Cavora, Mungus stood with Mottrot and Sir Fangar atop one of the towers. When the Sabre-Tooth leader noticed the light from the heroes locating the first pair of fire wings, he sent the two mammoth brothers to scout the area around the mountain to make sure they weren’t falling into another trap. When they reached the Grand Archway, they found Laval searching for another pair of fire wings and attacked him. Using his club, Mungus ended up destroying part of the arch and revealed the fire wings hidden inside it which Laval quickly collected. ("Wings of Fire")

LEGO.com Description[edit | edit source]

Red2x2.png This is a description taken from LEGO.com. Please do not modify it. (see the source of this quote) Mungus is the biggest and strongest warrior in the Ice Hunter tribes, easily twice the size of anyone else. He’s so big that it took three CHI orbs to wake him up from his frozen sleep. Mungus can flip over a Rhino tank without even trying hard and defeat a troop of Lions all by himself. He is actually a lovable sort but not very bright, and can’t do much of anything unless his mother, Maula, tells him how to do it. He’s sweet, friendly, and happy all the time – unless Maula tells him to attack something, in which case he charges forward and crushes it flat.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Mungus' name is a pun on the word 'humongous'.
  • He speaks in third person, a stereotypical trait of dumber characters.
  • Despite his size, Mungus is very childish.
