Maula is a Legends of Chima minifigure released in 2014. She is the leader of the Mammoth Tribe and the mother of Mottrot and Mungus.
Description[edit | edit source]
Maula, unlike the other members of her tribe, has grey flesh. She also uses transparent blue elements, such as her leg and armor. She features the same head mould as the others and has exposed muscle printed on her trunk as well as a small tiara.
Background[edit | edit source]
Maula is the leader of the Mammoth tribe and the mother of Mottrot and Mungus. She joined with Sir Fangar after the Saber-Tooth Tiger had accumulated so much knowledge from the Phoenix that he became convinced he should be the ruler of Chima. Their forces plowed through Chima causing destruction everywhere they went until the Phoenix used the Great Illumination to cast Maula and the rest of the hunters into the Gorge of Eternal Depth. Down there, Maula was frozen along with the rest of the Hunters in a dreamless sleep for ten thousand years until she was revived by Sir Fangar shortly after the defeat of the Crawlers. She and the other hunters soon learned that during their time frozen, energy left over from the Illumination caused Maula to gain control over ice.[1]
Maula followed their end of the deal and lead her mammoths back to the Gorge of Eternal Depth which they used to return to the Hunter's fortress. There, they regrouped with Stealthor and Vardy's forces and set off through the underground tunnels in search of the phoenix child Flinx for Sir Fangar's collection. However, their efforts proved in vain as they accidentally captured Skinnet who released his smell, poisoning the caves. Eventually however, they found Flinx at the Crocodile Swamp dropping off the Crocodile Legend and launched an attack with her two sons. During the battle, she dueled Laval until Mottrot claimed that he had the phoenix child and they left. Yet when they returned to Sir Fangar, they discovered that Mottrot had actually grabbed Plovar instead, much to the enrage of Sir Fangar. ("Cool and Collected")
With the phoenix out of the way, the Hunters launched their biggest assault on Chima yet. Maula, Mottrot, and Vardy attempted to freeze the Bear Village, but were stopped by the Bear Legend. When the Hunter Fortress rose from the Grand Archway Canyon, Maula oversaw the mammoth walkers that pulled the large glacier. ("A Spark of Hope")
LEGO.com Description[edit | edit source]
This is a description taken from LEGO.com. Please do not modify it. (see the source of this quote) Maula is a force of nature, like a hurricane or a blizzard. You always know when she’s around, because she is either yelling at her two sons or smothering them with affection. She is loud, loving, extremely strict, and can be cruel both to her children and her enemies. You never see Maula on her own, she always has one or both of her boys with her. She is extremely protective of Mottrot and Mungus and will react with frightening speed if either one of them is hurt. And no one wants to get in the way of an angry mother mammoth…

Notes[edit | edit source]
- As far as coloration goes, Maula more closely resembles an elephant than a mammoth. However, mammoths are an extinct species of elephant, so it doesn't make a huge difference.
- Besides Eris and Spinlyn, Maula is the only female to be a main character of a tribe.
