P.I.X.A.L. Borg (Primary Interactive X-ternal Assistant Life-form), also known as Samurai X, is a Ninjago minifigure first released in January 2014.
Background[edit | edit source]
P.I.X.A.L is the 16th model in her line working as [[Cyrus Borg|Cyrus Borg’s assistant. She was tasked with leading the tour for the students from Sensei Wu’s Acadamey when she met Zane and the other ninja. She took an interest in Zane and scanned his hardware, remarking that he is outdated and incompatible with their systems. The ninja seperate from the group to meet with Borg and P.I.X.A.L leads the tour. When the ninja accidentally alert the Overlord to Borg’s plan to rid him from their systems, the Overlord virus takes over everything connected to Borg’s system, including P.I.X.A.L. She turned against Nya, Wu and the children, leaving them to succumb to the machines in the factory. After the ninja escape New Ninjago City with the Techno Blades, P.I.X.A.L uses Zane’s specs to create an army of Nindroids.
P.I.X.A.L works closely with the Overlord, extracting all of the Golden Power she can from the attacked drones. She advises him that the priority should be acquiring the Techno Blades, but he is more fixated on kidnapping Lloyd. P.I.X.A.L is sent to Garmadon’s monastery to acquire the Techno Blades, of which Zane was guarding alone. After a short fight, Zane apprehends her and brings her to the monastery. Using his Techno Blade, he hacks P.I.X.A.L and cleanses her of the Overlord virus. Now with a desire to help good, she informs the team of the Overlord’s plan and warns them of the incoming Nindroid attack. The team escape the ambush, but Zane is left badly damaged. Stowed aboard a circus train, the ninja sneak into the city borders. Here, P.I.X.A.L repairs Zane but accidentally harms him trying to touch his power source. She feels bad but Zane uses this as a moment to connect with her, to no avail. Upon arriving at the Ninjago Power Station, with the mission to shut the power down, P.I.X.A.L decides to stay behind while the ninja complete the mission. However the ninja are soon surrounded by Nindroids and P.I.X.A.L realises she must help. She distracts General Cryptor long enough to attract Zane’s attention, who boldly goes out to face the entire army. The ninja succeed in shutting down the power, but the cost is that P.I.X.A.L is shut down too. Revealing to Zane that that was the reason she stayed behind initially. With her final moments of consciousness, she asks Zane if they are compatible, to which he answers yes.
As a result of the Tournament of Elements arc, P.I.X.A.L. becomes a support A.I. in Zane's new body, giving him advice on various situations.
P.I.X.A.L.'s support role would continue throughout the Possession season and briefly into Skybound, though Nadakhan's machinations resulted in her disappearance and Zane is imprisoned in Djinn Blade along with other prisoners in order to create a new Djinjago. This would later be undone by Jay's third wish, and P.I.X.A.L. would assist Zane during Day of the Departed, particularly during his battle with the revived Cryptor. She would later identify the temporal disturbance that had affected Ninjago
P.I.X.A.L. was the second to take up the Samurai X identity after the original Samurai X, Nya, became a ninja and Elemental Master of Water. She stole the Samurai X suit while Nya was protecting an immobile Zane from Vermillion invaders. This angered Nya to the point where she became obsessed with finding out who stole it.
While the Vermillion warriors were attacking the Temple of Airjitzu, Lloyd Garmadon was put in danger when he fell off his Elemental Dragon. Kai failed to rescue him, but the Samurai X flew in, using the Samurai Mech and saved him at the last minute. The ninja were amazed, bar Nya who demanded to know the identity of the warrior. Lloyd, humbled by the samurai's actions, thanked Samurai X and they flew away, to Nya's frustration. While flying away, however, the Mech was hit by one of the Vermillion's projectiles and fell to the ground. After the attack ceased, Nya looked down at the place where the Mech landed, not convinced she'd seen the last of it.
The next night, Nya travels to the Samurai X Cave to find clues to the thief of her suit. She finds the Samurai among the mess of the cave. Nya questions them about their identity, to which the Samurai answers in Ronin's voice. Nya is confused as Ronin's leg was broken not long ago. The Samurai realises this discrepancy and changes its voice to that of Dareth. Nya engages in a fight with Samurai X, demanding it's real identity. During the fight, Samurai X changes it's voice to many different identities, to each of them Nya disproves. Eventually, Samurai X pleads to Nya to stop trying to find their identity, reminding her that she did the same thing when she was Samurai X. Nya concedes that they're right and gives up the fight. She relinquishes her hold on all of the Samurai X gear and gives it over to the mystery warrior. As a symbol of good faith, Nya reveals something the Vermillion didn't destroy; the Samurai VXL, though she asks the Samurai to change her colour, as red is her colour. As Nya leaves to meet with her brother, she bids farewell to Skylor, to which the Samurai responds "Girl's gotta have her secrets" in Skylor's voice. Nya leaves the cave, pleased that she figured out what she came to the cave to find. However, when she meets with Kai at Chen's Noodle House, Skylormis there sitting with him, meaning the Samurai's identity still remains a mystery.
When Lloyd, Jay, Zane and Cole get into trouble in to the Vermillion base while trying to rescue Cyrus Borg, the Samurai shows up in the VXL to rescue Borg, in a new blue colour. The Samurai tells Borg it's been looking for him for a while and gets ready to get him away from the danger, but Zane stops the Samurai because they need Borg to disable the Hands of Time's ultimate weapon: the Iron Doom. The Samurai quickly agrees to help and uses the VXL to get Borg to the mech quickly. The ninja keep the Vermillion warriors at bay and Zane reaches the Iron Doom control panel to protect Borg and the Samurai while Borg tries to remember the 1300 digit code that will disable the Mech. Borg struggles to remember the code, but Zane and the Samurai both realise at the same time that the code must be the code to program a Nindroid. Zane quickly punches the code in, but isn't able to finish it before Acronix uses the Pause Time Blade to freeze Zane, Borg and the Samurai. The other ninja save the three from falling but the Iron Doom, now powered by all four Time Blades, travels back in time with the Vermillion warriors. Now stuck waiting for Kai and Nya to stop the Hands of Time, the Samurai deflects questions from Jay about their identity. After Kai and Nya return from the past, the Samurai is present when Lloyd makes his speech to the others to not rest until Wu is fine.
Samurai X later came to the aid of Jay, Zane, and Cole to rescue Cyrus Borg from the Vermillion, having altered the armor color scheme and that of a vehicle Nya had provided. Admitting to hacking into Zane's scanners, the Samurai then helped in their efforts to sabotage the Iron Doom and prevent it from escaping into time. Samurai X proved to be quite knowledgeable, knowing the complete coding sequence for programming a Nindroid and rattling it off alongside Zane, only to be thwarted when Acronix and Krux appeared with the Time Blades. After they departed with the Vermillion with Kai, Nya, and Wu in pursuit, Jay attempted to persuade Samurai X to identify but was unsuccessful, a performance repeated after Kai and Nya returned from saving time from being altered.
P.I.X.A.L. reappears in The Mask of Deception, where she provides support to Lloyd as he is pursuing the Sons of Garmadon and contacts the rest of the Ninja in order to reunite them. Samurai X appears in The Jade Princess, using the Samurai VXL and saving a group of civilians from the Sons of Garmadon. In Dead Man's Squall, after the Destiny's Bounty 3.0 systems are compromised due to Mr. E's actions, Samurai X attacks the ship in a mech, and P.I.X.A.L. admits that she has been the new Samurai the entire time. She is eventually able to regain control of her body, and confesses her actions to Zane. In The Quiet One Nya confirms that the Samurai X identity is hers now, and Zane assures her that he would never force her to return to being a computer program inside his mind.
March of the Oni[edit | edit source]
In "The Darkness Comes", P.I.X.A.L. accompanies Zane and Cole in the Earth Driller to a ceremony in which the city gives the Ninja a new Destiny's Bounty. When the Oni invade Ninjago, P.I.X.A.L. accompanies the Ninja aboard the new Bounty, and they reluctantly travel to Kryptarium Prison to recover their unlikely ally, Emperor Garmadon. In "Into the Breach", she remains aboard the Bounty when Lloyd and Garmadon head into the city, and is heartbroken when Lloyd's camera shows a petrified Cyrus Borg. When the crew pick up a distress signal, P.I.X.A.L. summons her mech and remains behind to support the father-and-son team.
In "The Fall" Lloyd contacts P.I.X.A.L., who flies in to pick him and Garmadon up only to find that her wait has nearly emptied her fuel. She manages to pick up the pair, and barely manages to make an emergency landing on the Bounty. After receiving the crushing news that Cole has apparently been lost, the group heads back to the Monastery of Spinjitzu. In "Endings", P.I.X.A.L. and Misako hang back with rescued civilians while Wu, Garmadon, the Ninja, and Faith hold off the Oni army. When the defenders are successful-joined by Cole, who survived after all-P.I.X.A.L. joins in the victory celebration
Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu[edit | edit source]
In "A Rocky Start", some months after the victory against the Oni, P.I.X.A.L. shows the Ninja the Monastery's new vehicle bay, which she has been working on while the Ninja slacked off. She then shows the group several new vehicles-the Dune Bounty, Rock Cycle, and Katana 4x4-only for them to rush off before she can explain how they work. In "The Belly of the Beast", the Ninja attempt to contact her after running into trouble in the Desert of Doom, but are unable to reach her. In "The News Never Sleeps!", P.I.X.A.L. enters her mech to battle Aspheera's army of flaming snakes. Comments by Lil' Nelson and Antonia suggest that P.I.X.A.L.'s identity as Samurai X isn't widely known, with the pair both referring to the hero as male.
In "Ninja vs. Lava", P.I.X.A.L. arrives to save the Ninja from Aspheera's magical lava in the ShuriCopter, bringing them up to date on the situaton in Ninjago. In "Never Trust a Human", P.I.X.A.L. is present as Wu relates his troubled history with Aspheera. In "Under Siege" and "The Explorer's Club", she activates the Monastery's defenses to hold off Aspheera's army, retreating with the others to the weapon bay. Waiting for Lloyd, Nya, and Zane to arrive with one of the Scrolls of Forbidden Spinjitzu, they race to complete the Titan Mech.
In "Vengeance Is Mine!", P.I.X.A.L. pilots the newly completed mech against Aspheera's army, but is unable to match her use of a Scroll of Forbidden Spinjitzu. Fortunately, Zane's party arrives with the Scroll and the snakes are defeated, only for Zane to apparently be vaporized as a result. In "A Cold Goodbye", P.I.X.A.L. mourns her fallen love, but later assists the Ninja in attempting to follow him when they learn that Zane was sent to the Never-Realm, not destroyed. After subduing Wu, she uses the one scroll remaining in Ninjago to send the Ninja on their way, only to learn afterwards that they and Zane may all trapped forever.
In "The Message", Lloyd finds a recording left by Zane in which he bids farewell to P.I.X.A.L.; he is seen making this recording in "Corruption." In "The Kaiju Protocol" P.I.X.A.L. and Wu attempt to use Traveler's Tea to open a portal to the Never-Realm. After a number of failed attempts, they accidentally open a portal to the Departed Realm, and the Preeminent escapes and begins attacking Ninjago. P.I.X.A.L. engages it using her Protocol Kaiju mech, but is forced to plug into the Ninjago City power grid to overcome it. Luckily, her systems survive the immense surge of power and she defeats the Preeminent; after returning it to the Departed Realm, she encourages Wu regarding their efforts.
In "Awakenings", P.I.X.A.L. and Wu are present when the Ninja succeed in opening a portal back to Ninjago, and she joyfully embraces Zane after he emerges.
Prime Empire[edit | edit source]
In "Level Thirteen", P.I.X.A.L. and Zane opt not to join the other Ninja in entering the world of Prime Empire after Cyrus Borg explains that it's programming could overwrite their own.
In "Ninjago Confidential", P.I.X.A.L. joins Zane in continued efforts to locate Milton Dyer, under the impression that he is the mysterious Unagami responsible for Prime Empire. To P.I.X.A.L.'s bewilderment and frustration, Zane adopts an over-the top detective persona, including a bizarre speech pattern and a habit of narrating his thoughts aloud. This leads to a fight with some thugs at Dareth's juice bar, the bartender of which proves to be an old friend of Milton Dyer's who directs them to his old hangout. There the two Nindroids are ambushed by the Mechanic and his goons, and P.I.X.A.L. awakens to find Zane gone. Reluctantly, she dons his fedora and adopts his detective mannerisms, and discovers a secret staircase leading to the roof. There she finds Milton Dyer, who informs her that he is not Unagami: Unagami is Prime Empire itself.
In "The Prodigal Father", P.I.X.A.L. brings Dyer up to date on the Prime Empire situation, and reasons that Unagami must have completed his game himself. Dyer is skeptical, believing that the programming he created is incapable of such actions or of feeling, something which he also doubts P.I.X.A.L. can do. P.I.X.A.L. retorts that her programming is not so different from human mental processes, but the two are interrupted by a distress signal from Wu, who has also been abducted. They arrive just in time to see the Mechanic use Zane to power up the Manifestation Gate, a machine that will enable Unagami to escape into the real world.
In "Game Over", P.I.X.A.L. charges into action against the Mechanic's Gang, also persuading Dyer to help rescue Wu and Zane. Unagami and various other Prime Empire characters emerge into Ninjago City, followed swiftly by Jay atop the Cyber Dragon. He and his friends bring each other up to date, and Jay heads out to lure Unagami to Borg Tower while P.I.X.A.L. and the others escort Dyer through the streets. They are successful, and between them Jay and Dyer convince Unagami to abandon his path of anger and cease his attacks on Ninjago City. The Prime Empire characters are given a choice of whether they wish to remain in the real world or return to the game, and the other Ninja and other Ninjago inhabitants are rescued from the virtual world.
Master of the Mountain[edit | edit source]
{{Spoiler2|In "Shintaro", P.I.X.A.L. joins Nya in repairing the defenses of the Monastery of Spinjitzu. She is later present when the group receives an invitation to visit the fabled kingdom of Shintaro, but remains behind at the monastery with Misako while Wu and the Ninja depart in the Destiny's Bounty. In "Mother Earth", P.I.X.A.L. takes a break from working on the new ship to play some Prime Empire, choosing Digi Zane as her character. She then discovers a photo of Lilly training with Master Wu, leading Misako to detail the former Master of Earth's history to her.

Seabound[edit | edit source]
In "The Call of the Deep", P.I.X.A.L. flies her Protocol Kaiju Mech alongside Zane's Shuricopter on a mission to aid a ship that's under attack by a giant octopus. Both Nindroids feel guilty for not informing Nya, whose water powers have been acting strangely, but are soon distracted as they arrive on the scene. Pixal attempts to reason with the creature to no avail, and is pulled underwater, her mech losing power and nearly succumbing to the intense ocean pressure. After restarting the vehicle using a trick Nya taught her-striking the control panel with her fist-Pixal returns to the surface. Having picked up a strange energy pulse that seems to have affected the octopus, the pair return to the monastery to inform the others so that they can investigate.
In "Unsinkable", P.I.X.A.L. escorts Wu and the Ninja to the Ninjago City Docks, where she unveils a submarine she developed some time previously: the Hydro Bounty. She is confident that the vessel is "unsinkable", and the others prevent Cole from voicing his misgivings about her choice of words. Pixal joins the crew, also consisting of Nya, Jay, Zane, Lloyd, and stowaway Maya, whom the group discover after she performs a series of helpful chores aboard ship. Shortly after arriving at a ship graveyard, the Hydro Bounty is attacked by a manta ray and left stranded atop an undersea cliff.
In "Five Thousand Fathoms Down", the crew find themselves unable to restart the damaged ship, with Pixal and Zane rejecting the suggestion that Jay attempt to jumpstart the engine with his Lightning powers. Determining that they are not far from the energy signal they came to investigate, Pixal leads the others to a docking bay where she has two APS suits ready to carry members of the crew out into the depths. Pixal remains aboard ship as Nya and Maya take the suits out, remaining in contact with the mother-daughter team. They thus witness the pair's discovery of the Temple of Wojira and the sleeping beast herself.
In "The Wrath of Kalmaar", Pixal and the others become concerned after Nya and Maya are captured by Kalmaar and his Maaray Guards. Jay thus risks his life by going against Pixal's warning to use his Lightning powers to restart the ship, and is awarded the role of captain following the success of the risky venture. In "Long Live the King", the reunited crew of the Hydro Bounty is taken into custody by the Merlopians and brought before King Trimaar, whom they inform of Kalmaar's villainous behavior. Unfortunately, when Kalmaar is summoned before his father, he strikes Trimaar down and blames it on the Hydro Bounty crew, who are forced to flee. Running into a dead end, most of the crew dons breathing masks as the corridors are flooded, though Pixal is puzzled by Zane using one when he doesn't require oxygen.
In "Escape from Merlopia", Pixal and her friends are rescued from the flooded corridor and a number of Ripper Sharks by Prince Benthomaar, Trimaar's adopted son. He helps the group reach the Hydro Bounty, and Pixal quickly acts to power up the ship and pilot it away from Merlopia while her friends fight off their pursuers. The crew, now joined by Bentho, sets a course for the Island of the Keepers to recover the Storm Amulet before Kalmaar can claim it. In "The Tale of Benthomaar", Bentho shares the story of his life with Trimaar and Kalmaar in Merlopia with Pixal and his other new friends.

In "Riddle of the Sphinx", Pixal and the others are stranded on the Island of the Keepers with no means of repairing the Hydro Bounty, when Benthomaar suggests that Nya summon whales to their aid. Nya attempts this and eventually succeeds, giving them the means to pull the Hydro Bounty back to Ninjago City. In "Master of the Sea", they arrive back at the docks just in time to save Wu, Misako, Cole, Kai, and Ray from being drowned. They then join the battle against Kalmaar and his forces, unwittingly losing the Storm Amulet to their escaping foe.
In "The Calm Before the Storm", Wu contacts Pixal with news of an imminent threat to Ninjago City: Kalmaar has awakened Wojira and is steering her towards the city. This forces Pixal to accelerate work on a series of combat submersibles she has been building in preparation to face the coming invasion. In "Assault on Ninjago City", Pixal joins Wu aboard the Destiny's Bounty to evacuate citizens from a now flooded Ninjago City. The Bounty is damaged by an attack from Wojira, forcing Pixal to sail the flightless ship through the city.
In "Nyad", Pixal and Wu set the Bounty on autopilot to lure Kalmaar's forces away as they take refuge with the others inside an office building. Some time later, Nya merges with the sea in order to save an ailing Jay's life and gain the power to defeat Wojira; Pixal and the others quickly follow her to offer what help they can. In "The Turn of the Tide" they arrive on the scene of Nya's final confrontation with Kalmaar and Wojira, and Pixal helps to fight Gripe and the other Maaray Guards. After Nya departs to the sea, Pixal joins the remaining Ninja and Wu in performing a memorial ceremony at the monastery, which is attended by many of Ninjago's citizens.

P.I.X.A.L.(Primary Interactive X-ternal Assistant Life-form) is Cyrus Borg’s android assistant.
When she first meets the ninja, she is under the influence of the Digital Overlord and uses her skills to copy the plans for Zane so the Nindroids can be built.
She is cold and mechanical and incapable of any feeling for anyone.
P.I.X.A.L. is actually the 16th model in her line, the first 15 having malfunctioned due to a faulty thermo-coil and a malfunctioning AIE-ES (artificial intelligence enhancer-emotion suppressor) chip.
Borg was able to fix the coil, but the chip problem has not been completely solved.
